Les raisons de choisir Cuba comme destination de vacances ne manquent pas. Cette plus grande île des Caraïbes est reconnue pour ses kilomètres de plages de sable blanc, ses villes reculées et ses meilleurs cigares du monde. Elle constitue un véritable paradis pour les amateurs de détentes balnéaires et leur promet un dépaysement inédit. L’une des adresses phares des estivants qui voyagent à Cuba est sans conteste Varadero, située sur la péninsule de Hicacos. De longues étendues de sable y attendent les routards souhaitant se bronzer sous le soleil des Caraïbes. Varadero propose aussi différentes distractions comme la plongée sous-marine, la baignade ou encore la planche à voile. À noter que des complexes hôteliers s’y trouvent pour passer des séjours hors du commun. Durant un périple à Cuba, le littoral de Cayo Coco vaut également un détour en raison de sa végétation luxuriante et ses nombreuses espèces d’oiseaux, à l’instar du flamant rose.

Faire un tour dans la charmante ville de La Havane

Outre ses plages idylliques, Cuba enchantera les touristes avec sa capitale La Havane. Cette ville abrite une multitude d’endroits impressionnants à visiter durant un voyage à Cuba. La « Cathédrale de la Vierge de l’Immaculée Conception », entre autres, est l’un des sites les plus connus de la municipalité. Il s’agit d’un majestueux établissement religieux à la façade baroque qui a été érigé au XVIIIe siècle par des jésuites. Sa nef centrale conserve un monument funéraire du Christophe Colomb. À noter que le travail d’orfèvrerie de l’autel et les sculptures de la cathédrale représentent le talent du concepteur italien Bianchini. En raison de sa beauté, l’UNESCO a classé cette église sur la liste des biens patrimoniaux protégés. Dans cette commune, les routards verront également l’immense Capitole, l’un des édifices emblématiques de La Havane. Le Capitole abrite un vaste escalier de 36 m de large, agrémenté par deux imposantes statues en bronze de 6,5 m de haut chacune. Fascinant, son dôme est décoré de feuilles d’or de 22 carats.

Une escapade mémorable dans la ville de Santiago de Cuba

Voyager à Cuba est également une occasion de visiter une autre ville intéressante, à savoir Santiago de Cuba. Tout comme La Havane, cette municipalité regorge de lieux exceptionnels qui valent un détour. Dans cette métropole d’environ 444 000 habitants, les globe-trotters verront certains vestiges de l’époque coloniale comme le Castillo de San Pedro de la Roca ou la Casa de la Trova. Il y a aussi la « Cathédrale de Santiago de Cuba », connue comme étant l’église la plus ancienne de la commune. Cet édifice de style architectural éclectique se distingue par ses deux tours, ses colonnes corinthiennes et ses arches. Sur sa belle façade néoclassique, les routards admireront deux somptueuses sculptures en marbre de Bartolomé de las Casas et de Christophe Colomb. À l’est de ce bâtiment se trouve la « Maison natale de José Maria Heredia », un célèbre poète cubain. En outre, du 24 juin au 26 juillet, les bourlingueurs auront l’occasion d’assister à un important carnaval à Santiago de Cuba.
